The Prom Edit was designed to help every girl going to prom to feel good about herself, regardless of finances. Because everyone deserves to have a dress they love.
Overview:
The Prom Edit was created to help make special events more accessible and inclusive for local teens. Keep It Kind collected used and new dresses from different community resources and put together boutique-style racks for teens to browse through. Our goal was to partner with organizations and nonporfits to bring a selection of prom dresses to underserved communities.

The Prom Edit is a community dress drive created by Keep It Kind. We collected dresses in a range of lengths and styles and curated a selection with something for everyone. We also reached out to local philanthropic organizations by email and social media, inviting them to partner with us and host an on-site event where teens could find a prom dress to keep.

We gathered and curated a mix of long, short, and midi dresses, including sparkly and satin styles. We hoped to partner with a local organization and bring the dresses on-site, creating a personal, positive shopping experience for each girl.

We invited local philanthropic organizations to host an on-site dress event through email and social media. We weren’t able to arrange a host in time for last prom season, so we’re planning to start outreach earlier this year.

We’re excited to give The Prom Edit another try this prom season. This time, we plan to collect dresses well in advance and reach out to community partners earlier, so teens can find a dress in time for prom. We hope to create a personal, positive shopping experience where each girl can choose a dress that feels right for her and keep it.
